Ruther Glen resident Charles Boone, 39, and Jovann Paige, 27, of Stafford County, were both killed on Monday, Oct. 24 following a police pursuit that began shortly before 2:30 a.m. when Fredricksburg police received a call from a victim of an armed robbery near the Spotsylvania County line.

According to police, the victim advised police that the suspect’s vehicle was traveling into the city along Lafayette Boulevard. A patrol officer eventually spotted the vehicle on Lafayette Boulevard near Longstreet Avenue and tried to stop it, but Boone sped away, police said.

Boone later lost control making a right onto Lee Drive, where he crashed into a tree, killing him and Paige. Three others were also in the vehicle and are listed in critical condition at Mary Washington Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
